Her long, reddish-gold locks bounce as she sashays around the room, hips swaying provocatively, a teasing look on her face.
Sparky, an awkward teenager, knows no better than to demonstrate his delight and admiration by knocking her over and nipping at her heels. Momentarily rattled by his childish affections, Daisy rolls back onto her short little legs and shakes her whole body in response, hair flying. Then, they are off, running and bouncing, sliding into walls, jumping, rolling, tackling and yapping.
Daisy, a lovely little long-haired dachshund, has become both a best buddy for Sparky, and an object of adoration and misguided affection. Sparky is not always sure what to do with this bundle of beauty, so he offers what he knows best: wrestling, jostling and nipping—a most unromantic combination of Sparky specialties.
Daisy, for her part, loves to play (to a point), cuddle at times, and pursue a wee bit of romance when the mood strikes her. While we have neutered any true attempts at romance, we enjoy being observers as this puppy love evolves. Their wriggling joy as they meet again, their wide eyes and squeals of delight, are wonderful reminders of the value of unfettered friendship, adoration, and love—for all of us.
